Andaz San Diego is in the heart of the downtown action situated on the border of the historic Gaslamp Quarter and the trendy East Village neighborhood, which has been likened to Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. It is an edgy mix of reclaimed warehouse chic and ultra-modern new construction. Petco Park breathed new life into the neighborhood that birthed trendy modern condos, high end hotels, and hot new retail spaces.
This shiny new neighborhood is the perfect place to find boutique shops with designer fashions, high-end spa services, and upscale restaurants. Boutique shops like Ma Cherie, Mango, and G-Star Raw Store will satisfy even the most voracious shoppers. Knotty Barrel, Basic, and Table No. 10, are can’t miss eateries in the Village. Of course, this is the place to be during Padre Baseball season; don’t miss the over-the-top celebrations in East Village on MLB opening day.
The Gaslamp Quarter is the historic heart and soul of San Diego. From W Broadway to Harbor Drive this 16-block long district runs between 4th and 6th Streets, and Andaz San Diego sits on its 6th Street edge. Ninety-four historic buildings from the Victorian Era still line the streets today, having been repurposed into restaurants, nightclubs, shops, and hotels. The San Diego Convention Center is at the southernmost edge of the Gaslamp Quarter and can be easily accessed from Andaz via the Harbor Drive Pedestrian Bridge, which at 550 feet is one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world.
